11/19/2023 0 Comments Upcoming tim burton moviesI think the biggest disappointment for me was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I still legitimately like almost all of his movies (with the exceptions being Planet of the Apes and Mars Attacks!), while acknowledging that most of his recent ones have been lackluster compared to his early work. Tim Burton is genuinely my favorite film director, and that's almost entirely based on his output from the 90s. Even David gets tired of it at times.Īlso, the ads become pretty obvious after about two listens because they always do them as the same kind of bit. Doing all that without some levity would be boring af. Theyre the "connoisseurs of context" and do a great job of placing the films in the larger spectrum of both the filmmakers work and filmmaking in general. Ill admit that sometimes i find some of it annoying, but they have often have discussions about films that are longer than the films themselves because theyre a wealth of knowledge when it comes to behind the scenes material, such as business end stuff and production. This podcast is a conversation between a professional comedic actor and improvisor and a professional humor driven cultural critic, theyre going to try to be funny. Looks great and every bit the flameboyant musical extravaganza it should be. The first teaser left me a bit meh but the official trailer had me eat my words and change my tune. I'm a big Guy Ritchie fan and Aladdin's world I think would suit his sensebilities well (street urchin thief, overly lavish palace etc etc). The live-action Beast looks so.sooooo.to quote Beast,"Stupid."Īll that said, I am looking forward to Aladdin. The casting was off (aside from Belle) and somehow the cartoon Beast managed to be far more intimidating and endearing and switching between the two extremes than the live action one. It's strange too because I figured Bill Condon would nail it with it being a musical and all but it just didn't live up to the original at all for me. It doesn't help that BatB is one of my favs from that time period (Mermaid to Lion King was an unbroken string of hits to me) so I may be a bit biased. From pacing to the unnecessary changes to the music, it just didn't click with me. On mobile, sorry for any mistakes will fix later. TLDR: Big fish is better than any of Tim's movies in recent years. So what happened Tim? Are you burnt(on) out? Is it the studios and producers? What has happened to the story teller who gave us such a great film? The special effects were better in 2003 than what were in the Alice in Wonderland movies. I'm saying Big Fish is way better than Charlie and the chocolate factory. I know we all see and experience movies differently. I just have not seen a TB film to live up to what Big Fish has set the standard at. The CGI throws you off and it's hard to really settle in. With Tim's more recent movies I feel a lot is lost. They stayed after he was put to rest and all laughed at his memory. The funeral scene showed everyone grieving after losing such a great friend. How the son finishes the fathers story and makes amends felt complete without being too foreseen. The movie made me feel all emotions you could hope for in an adventure/finding your way in life movie. The story is about finding your passion, learning to love, accepting other, and taking the risky route is the most rewarding compared to the long boring road. The father was such a caring person and Ewan McGregors performance was captivating. The gold fish being able to grow 4x their size if the habitat is large enough and him comparing his growth to him being meant for more in life. There are a lot of quotes and symbolism in the movie that really make you think. The relationship between father and son has a great feel to it that I could relate to. The story is as spectacular as the stories the father tells his son(and everyone else). Ring master a werewolf was such a great surprise. Right when you think you got things figured out there is a twist that was impossible to see coming. The camera work, the story, the characters and the pace of the film are brilliant. I recently seen it on Hulu and it was beyond what I could ever imagine. I have been under a rock and I never seen the movie Big Fish.
